Thane Rain | In Thane, heavy rains caused trees to fall and walls to collapse

Thane: Heavy rains lashed Thane all day yesterday.  Initially, heavy rains lashed the area around 11 a.m. yesterday.  It then rained heavily throughout the city until nightfall.  The municipal disaster management department recorded 189 mm of rain from Friday morning till night.  The highest rainfall of this season is said to be on this day.  On the other hand, torrential rains during the day inundated 12 places in Thane and caused tree falls in three places.  In addition, the walls collapsed in some places.  Fortunately, no one was hurt.

 It has been raining heavily in Thane since Thursday, confirming the meteorological department's forecast.  It had been raining since early morning on Friday as well.  Then in the afternoon the same rain started pouring down.  Thane received more than 189 mm of rainfall on Friday and a total of 622.33 mm of rainfall has been recorded so far.  Last year, 1107.26 mm of rainfall was recorded till today.  A 12-foot wall at the back of the Khatle Garden in Thane collapsed due to continuous torrential rains.  The 25 to 30 feet protective wall of Jambhulkar Chali in front of Chandanwadi Shiv Darshan Society in Thane collapsed.  Fortunately, no one was injured but houses were badly damaged.  In Thane, a tree fell on a road in a stone school and grazing area.  There were three incidents of falling trees on houses at Kharkar Ali, Ashtavinayak Chowk and Turfepada.  Santosh Kadam, head of the disaster management department, said that five other complaints were received.
